    Ingredients

    • 1 cup shortening
      1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
      1/2 cup white sugar
      2 eggs
      2 teaspoons vanilla
      2 cups flour
      1 teaspoon baking soda
      1 teaspoon salt
      2 cups miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
      1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

    Directions

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    Cream shortening, brown sugar and white sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt.
    Gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (optional).
    Drop from small spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
